There will be no meeting on 30th of May 2008 as all current members will be on holiday.

Philip johnson thought that members with a copy of the History of the first 50 years of XXX might be interested in the following as indicating the whereabouts of the establishment in which XXX had its inaugural meeting " early in session 1908-9":

"I looked up Bennett's Business Directory 1910 under Bangor and found the Wicklow Temperance Hotel, High St - no number unfortunately. 

Looking back to the 1899 Directory, there is an advert for 

The Wicklow House Commercial and Family Hotel, Pendref, Bangor, Mrs Hughes - Proprietress. The above hotel is complete with every convenience for Commercial Gentlemen and Tourists. Well Aired Beds. 

Pendref Chapel is on High St -not far from the old Plaza Cinema

AFTER THE FIRST 100 YEARS

16th May 2008

At a meeting called by Philip Johnson, it was announced that no responses from XXXClub members had been received before the first and second Saturdays of May 2008 and that consequently Philip Johnson suggested that a new 30 branch in York should be started. He called for a meeting to be held on 30th May 2008,

The Club had now entered its Second Century and should not be allowed to lapse.

This was agreed and the date noted.
